For the first time in my life, I might actually enjoy all the classes I am taking. Holy sheminary! So, to add a little enjoyment to your life, here are a few sites that made me smile this week.
Peter makes the best coffee this side of the Mississippi. (The Finch house claims that title on the other side). But, the little consumer in me wants to try this. Decadence!
And speaking of coffee, I learned that if I gave up drinking it, then I would add another half a year to my life. To which I reply: That is so not worth it. And just where did I learn this tidbit that I shall ignore? Why, when I found out I will probably live to around 86 years old! What about you?
Valentine’s Day is coming up, fellas. Wanna get your special someone that unforgettable gift that shows how much you care? How about this?
But seriously, how cute is this shop? I wanna hug it.
Classes started today. Am I happy? Am I sad? I just don’t know yet. But, at least I showered for the occasion.
Megan’s Spring 2008 Classes: Introduction to Preaching (Brown); King’s Reign, Prophet’s Voice (Hutton); War and Christian Conscience (Bowlin); Spiritual Theology (Charry); Pastor as Person (Dykstra); Field Ed
Peter’s Spring 2008 Classes: The Cappadocian Fathers (Charry); Foundations of Missional Theology (Flett); Ezekiel (Lapsley); War and Christian Conscience (Bowlin); Reformed and Lutheran Confessional Theology in the 16th Century (McCormack); Field Ed
Question (intended to be spoken like Dwight Schrute)– Do you think you’d take classes more like Megan’s or more like Peter’s? Discuss.
(Though this post was prepared yesterday morning, just as I went to publish it, my Internet crapped out on me. So, here ya be…)
The way PTS has structured its semesters, we have our fall final exams after our Christmas break, which transforms what would be a wonderful and relaxing time with friends and family into a panic-induced festival of stress. But, they do allow us one week of fun and relaxation (but just one!). So, Peter and I have tried to take advantage of that one week by taking a little road trip each year. Last year, we visited Hershey, Pennsylvania. This year, we went skiing in the Catskills. It was Peter’s first time. Luckily, I am a good teacher. Except for when I accidentally led him down a black slope.
In other news, Bjork attacked another photographer. She still makes pretty music, though. (Although, my piano did weep a bit back when she said that instrumental music was over).
I have very strong opinions about politics, but I rarely choose to discuss those online. Yet, this week I read and found this article about Huckabee’s ideas on taxation quite interesting. My high school economics teacher (though he was one of those male teachers that made every female student a bit uneasy) once wisely said, “There are two things that are true that no one wants to admit. The first is that war is generally good for the economy. The second is that taxes are an absolute necessity in a civilized democracy.” I’m sure he has changed his mind about the first one (thank you, GWB!), but the second still makes some sense. We all hate taxes, but we all like roads.
And just in case you weren’t already convinced that the world is going to pot, check this out.
I have never seen an elephant up close, but I’ve always had a soft spot for the beasts with the trunks ever since I befriended this guy. Maybe I should go to Thailand.
Lastly, though I may be the last to report it, I am greatly saddened by the death of Heath Ledger. I’ve liked him ever since 10 Things I Hate About You. Not sure what else to say. It sure is sad.
Here is all of my family together at Christmas. One of our traditions is to receive cheese in our stockings. Yum!
